Caught between desire and safety, a prohibition detective struggles to control the distribution of the elusive “Desire”, a powerful aphrodisiac that allows its users to discover their true nature by removing socially programmed inhibitions. Meanwhile, a determined madame with a passion for radical expression manipulates her lovably naive employee, hoping to keep the illegal “Desire” business afloat. When a charming con-artist arrives to settle old debts, all signs to personal freedom lead to sketchy back alleys between control and desire.

GVL Funded research project took place at Theater Haus Mitte, 2021 to discover a musical landscape and movement sketches to be developed and finalized in further stages for The Prohibition of Desire
